Get a flying start from elementary school to graduation! (or: Start strong from primary school up to the Matura!) The earlier you learn a language, the easier and more naturally you will handle it. A foreign language quickly becomes a second language that can be effortlessly applied in all areas of life and learning.
The EnglischPlus program is aimed at students in Leoben and the surrounding area who are enthusiastic about and interested in languages, and who wish to receive high-quality, in-depth language education in English in addition to the conventional school curriculum.
Language skills are in demand in a globalized world! Your child has the opportunity to attend classes with a focus on English-language instruction from the first grade of elementary school (Volksschule) up to the Matura (graduation).

Pestalozzi
Elementary School
For three years, a multi-grade class with English as the language of instruction has been run at the Pestalozzi Elementary School (Volksschule). The prerequisite for attending this class was that students commanded English at a native-speaker level.
Starting in the school year 2026/27, this educational track will be replaced by the EnglischPlus focus, whereby the command of the English language as an admission criterion is dropped. Based on the consideration of varying starting levels of the students, the pedagogical objective is the development of balanced competencies in German and English – both orally and in writing. To achieve this goal, EnglischPlus includes additional English lessons per week.
EUROPA
GYMNASIUM
The Europaklasse (Europe Class) with EnglischPlus offers the opportunity to be taught partially (CLIL – Content and Language Integrated Learning) or entirely in English in selected subjects, in addition to the conventional secondary school (Gymnasium) education.
No prior knowledge is necessary for this. The goal is for learners to get used to the English language playfully and progressively. Students in the Europaklasse thus receive a broad and diverse linguistic education:

We offer a diverse range of physical activities for students – in cooperation with the clubs and associations in Leoben.

For the lower level EAA classes (English as the working language), all English teachers organize an English Project Week every year, which is entirely dedicated to the English language.
